John Piotrowski left a message on April 23, 2024:
67 years ago, this man held me in his hands as a priest poured holy water over my head to baptize me. He was a friend of my parents, who was also a Navy man, like my Dad. Throughout my childhood and teens, there was always a 10 dollar bill in the birthday and Christmas cards he sent to me. Whenever we visited his house or if he came to ours, he always had a neat trinket for me.. I think I absorbed his talent of Christmas tree decorating, as I spent most of our visits at his house admiring his masterpieces every year. But the most important quality of his was being an upright, proper person, who was a role model to me. The whole concept of “Godfather” gave me the feeling that he was able to known what I was up to at any moment, which kept me minding my P’s and Q’s. As I got older, we religiously exchanged Mass intention Christmas cards. As he got older, I visited, taking him out to dinner. In 2019, it was a great joy to celebrate his 95th birthday. We were on the phone every couple weeks these past few years. His presence was a positive influence. Mom and Dad couldn’t have chosen a finer man to be my Godfather. May God bless you, Uncle Ed, with eternal peace and joy for being a perfect example of His countenance in my life. Love you forever!
