Dorothy L. Kill

Dorothy L. Kill, age 87, of Indianapolis, formerly of Michigan City, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Dorothy was born March 15, 1922 in Michigan City to Henrich and Daisy (Kasube) Volksdorf, both of whom preceded her in death. On August 25, 1947 in Michigan City she married Marvin Kill who passed away August 9, 1989. Surviving is her daughter Cheryl (Gene) Wilson of Indianapolis, 2 granddaughters Kirstin Wilson, Kimberly Williams, two great-granddaughters Elizabeth and Allison Williams and nephew James Volstorf. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Volstorf. She was co-owner of Kill Office Machines in Michigan City. She had also been a secretary at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Business and Professional Women. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or at www.cancer.org

I was sorry and saddened to hear about the passing of Mrs. Kill. She was so very nice and kind to me when I was walking the Franklin Square beat as a Michigan City Police Officer during the early 1970's. I vividly recall one occasion when she had a problem with some juveniles in her store. I remembered one of the kids and when I went to take a report, discovered that I didn't have a pen with with me. Mrs. Kill permitted me to use one of the store's that she removed from a display case. When I went to give it back to her she stated, "just keep it." I said thanks and exited the store with my report. I later discovered that the pen was quite expensive (CROSS). Ever since that day she had a special place in my heart. I offer the family my sympathies and condolences. She is with the Lord now and resting peacefully... C J Gazarkiewicz
