Dorothy F. Smith

Dorothy F. Smith, age 92, of Michigan City, died Sunday, July 26 at Life Care Center of Michigan City. Private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Mrs. Smith was born August 10, 1917 in Michigan City to Walter R. and Florence (Wuersch) Hibner, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 27, 1940 in Michigan City, she married Norman L.C. Smith, he passed away April 6, 1993. Surviving are grandsons Christopher (fiancé Jackie Grayam) Smith, Michigan City, and Kevin (Melissa) Smith, Grafenwoehr, Germany, great grandchildren Madelaine Smith and Kaila and Kodiak Grayam, and daughter-in-law Sherry Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra K. Smith on 12/4/81, son Norman Smith on 7/21/09, sisters Mary Whitaker, Geraldine Fitzpatrick and brother Walter R. Hibner. Mrs. Smith had been a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid of Immanuel Lutheran, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League; and Joy Employees Association. She loved to cook and bake, play cards, and was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
