Donald C. Kirk

DONALD C. KIRK of Crown Point IN was born September 9 1927 in Toledo Ohio to Edward and Beatrice Kirk. He married Helen Klich on October 23 1954 who survives. He passed away Friday March 21 2008. Donald is also survived by his five children: Bebe (Steve) Sims Larry (Kathy) Kirk Bob Kirk Kathy (Jim) Tomko Jim (Debbie) Kirk seven grandchildren: Eric (Ann Marie) Sims Sara (Mike) Kowalsky Mike and Laura Kirk Brandon and Benjamin Tomko Kyle Kirk one great grandson Connor Kowalsky brother Edward (Sallee) Kirk sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Levenda many nieces nephews great nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents mother and father-in-law John and Anna Klich. Mr. Kirk was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church Crown Point and served on their Pastoral Council. He graduated from Waite High School and Toledo University. He was a structural engineer and retired from American Bridge Division of U. S. Steel Company in Gary and Chicago during which time he was responsible for many notable building projects including the Sears Tower. He served in the Armed Forces with the Army Corp. of Engineers in the Philippines. He served as Vice President of the Crown Point Little League and was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching hisDetroit Tigers and hisOhio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed gardening fishing visiting national parks and traveling across the United States with his wife Helen. Donald was very proud of his grandchildren and their activities to whom he passed on his wonderful traits of compassion and wit. Most of all his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
