Dolores Eckels

Dolores Eckels nee Mackowiak, age 75 of Merrillville, IN where she was a resident for 50 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Dolores is survived by 2 children: Warren Eckels of West Lafayette, IN and Trey Tracey Eckels of Alexandria, VA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Helen and Walter Mackowiak; and sister, Helen Marie late Jack Kosarko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM directly at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 801 W. 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, IN with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN on Sunday, March 21st from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday morning directly at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Dolores was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and the Merrillville American Legion Unit #430. She was a retired bookkeeper at Pierce Middle School in Merrillville. Dolores was a strong and loving wife and mother, and will be missed by all.
