Deborah E. “Debbie” Stephens (nee Hathaway), age 66, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

Deborah is survived by her children: Jeremie Stephens and Courtney (Louis) Aguilera; grandchildren: Myla and Brooklyn Aguilera; brother, Chris (Jo) Hathaway; sister, Cassandra Hathaway; step-mother, Marian Hathaway; and her fur grandbabies: Ella, Wrigley and Addison.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents: Ted and Oneta Hathaway.

Debbie was an animal lover and loved her fur babies and grandbabies. She enjoyed crafts, had a great sense of humor and was caring and selfless. Debbie loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorial Services will be private.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing at 6 feet and face masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Debbie’s name to the Diabetes Foundation of choice.

RIP! Debbie I will miss talking to you..

To the Family of Debbie Stephens Debbie and I went way back to when she worked for Merle Cook in the Merrillville Clerk Treasurer Office and I worked at the police dept for 8 years. She was Matron of Honor at my wedding, we went to the same church too. Her family was everything to her, she was never the same after the loss of her beloved father. I did not find out she passed away until recently. I have so many wonderful memories made with her. God Bless you all. May her memory be eternal! I will always miss her.

Dear Ones, So sorry to hear of Debbies' passing away. We have lots of good memories of her being active at the church. She was a faithful and active church member. Debbie loved the Lord and her Church family too. We could not have asked for a more faithful and loving friend! She touched so many lives in her service to the Lord. We were blessed. So sorry to hear about Debbie. Our families spent some great times together. Debbie and I watched many of Pirate games together. I remember one New Years Eve at Jeremy house Debbie was standing behind me on her phone. She dropped her phone and it decided to go swimming in my drink. The look on her face was priceless. Sending prayers and good thoughts to the family.

I have so many fond memories of spending time with Debbie and her family during our high school days. I still talk about being at the house eating the best tuna salad in the world, swimming in the back yard, and just hanging out. I haven't seen Debbie since our 10th high school reunion, but we stayed in touch all these years. We both love our fur babies with all our hearts. She was a wonderful friend and I will cherish our friendship forever. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to the family and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
