Deborah “Debbie” Gallegos (nee Stewart), age 66, of Lake Station, IN, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Steven Gallegos; her children: Susannah (Deanna Herrin) Gallegos-Herrin, Kevin (Nicole) Gallegos; grandchildren: Stephanie (Arthur), Kaleb, Evan; great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Amelia; brothers: Leroy (Connie) Stewart, Gerald “Rick” (Shelley) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents: Leroy and Suzanne Stewart; sister, Sandra Taylor; and brother, Terrance Stewart.

Debbie is a graduate of Lew Wallace High School. After graduating high school, Debbie went on to graduate from Merrillville Beauty College. She worked for the FSSA (IN Family & Social Services Administration). She was a member of the ALS Association, whose mission is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

Debbie loved spending time in the kitchen, baking all of her special treats for family and friends.  She adored the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities she worked with while at Dungarvin. She enjoyed her time at Lake Holiday, camping and playing card games with family and friends. Debbie enjoyed her flower garden, local festivals, concerts, crime shows, sweets, laughing, inside jokes and so much more.

Debbie was caring, patient, loving and kind. She was a proud nana, an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
