I was saddened to read about Dave's passing. I haven't seen any of the family since the 70's, but I remember Dave as a young man, always friendly, with a positive outlook on life. I'm sure he made many friends throughout his lifetime and built special memories with his family.
The Calvin Family left a message on August 30, 2009:
We are devastated by the loss of David. We lived next door to the Bacon's in Highland for years. We want to thank David for being such a good neighbor. We want to thank David for his service in Vietnam. We want to thank David for the excitement he brought to the neighborhood with the sound of his motorcycle roaring down the street. We always wanted to be as cool as him. Our Dad still tells the story of eating at Aurelio's Pizza in Dyer years after David moved from the neighborhood and having an intimidating gang of bikers approach him with one extending his hand. It was David saying, How are you Art? David was always a nice and friendly man. May he rest in peace and may his family heal from his loss. With our prayers and sympathy, The Calvin Family - Art, Irene, Chris, Elaine, Carin, and Ted.

Really the only words that come to my mind when I think of Dave, were three that I heard so often from him weather it be from the early days of knowing him and the dumb stuff I did when I was drinking at the parties we attended,or till recent at the many bike shows I attended and helped Dave judge, he had only three words for me, DAMN IT JUNIOR, I tortured this fine man and he would yell that and just smile, because he knew I was just doing it out of fun, I will truly miss my very good friend. Dave was a very good teacher of the finer things of being a biker, and an enthusiest, I am very saddened by this loss! I like this one Dave, your buddie always Junior
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Many of my earliest childhood memories include Dave. He was our neighbor in Dyer. Almost every weekend bikes would line the street. My brothers and I enjoyed playing with the snakes, spiders and pirannahs he kept as pets. Throughout my life anytime I have heard anyone bad mouth a biker, I speak up right away and say a person may be good or bad, you can't judge them by how they get around. Dave taught many many lessons I carry with me today. He was a good man and a great role model for three growing boys. Patti and family my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. You are in our prayers as Dave will be. Peace be with you...

Words cannot express how deeply we feel this loss. Our hearts go out to Patti and the family. What can be said about Dave? He was a character to say the least, and I mean that in a good way! It was always an adventure when Dave was involved, and there was always a good time! There will always be a hole in our hearts, and room for his memory. God's Peace.
