Dan W. Hutchinson

Dan W. Hutchinson, age 76, of LaPorte, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte. Funeral services will be Friday, January 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Van Meter officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the service at the funeral home. He was born December 11, 1933 in LaPorte to Edward and Dorothy (Reed) Hutchinson, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Vermadel Johnston on March 16, 1963 in LaPorte, she preceded him in death. Surviving are his brothers Frank D. (Janet) Hutchinson of Michigan City and sister-in-law Katherine Hutchinson of LaPorte, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Hutchinson. Dan had been a millwright with National Steel-Midwest Division for 20 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of New Creation Vineyard Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and his parents in his younger years. With all of his trials in life he chose to face it with a sense of humor. He was blessed with a superior intellect and was a conversational enthusiast. His gift of gab made him likeable to many. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation.
