CURTIS C. CORKYTHURSBY age 80 of Merrillville passed away Thursday March 12 2009. Survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Louise five children: Ronald (Helen) Thursby of IA Patricia (Garry) Peters of WI Peggy (David) Everett of Munster IN Charles (Lisa) Thursby of CO and Mark (Lori) Thursby of Dyer IN ten grandchildren: David (Amy) Thursby Laura (Josh) Bradbury David Jr. (Colleen) Everett Josh (fiancee Chrissy Synko) Everett Eric (Priscilla) Peters Blake Peters Joel Peters Vanessa Thursby Michelle Thursby Charles Thursby Jr four great grandchildren: Jack Tatum Sam and Madison brother Paul A. Thursby of Schaumburg IL. Preceded in death by parents Chester and Effie Thursby sister Pauline Thursby in-laws Murrel and Katherine Butler. Corky worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Beatty Machine and The Anderson Company (Cooper Industries) for over 35 years. He was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School Class of 1946. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville Friday March 13 2009 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday March 14 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Pastor Steve Conger officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Schererville.

Dear Thursby Family Im very sorry to have heard of the passing of Mr. Thursby. I have many wonderful memories of him as Im sure all of you do. I hope remembering all those good times will help sustain you through this rough period of time. Please tell your Mom who I always felt was one of the nicest persons Id ever met that my thoughts are with her. Im ashamed to say that I have 3 prior commitments this afternoon and evening along with our youth clinics tomorrow. If there is anyone who I need to show my respects to it would be your Dad. Please forgive me for not being there but your Dad is definitely in my heart and on my mind. I truely cant think of anyone else during my lifetime who brought an instant smile to my face each time that I saw him. He had the gift its ashame there arent more people who are like your father. I will never forget his handshake from the first time that we shook hands every hand shake that followed was always measured against his. If I was a blind man Im sure I could pick his handshake out of 200 people. Without question he touched my life and made me a better person for it. Thank you all for sharing him with the rest of us.
