CORNELIUS CORNELSPORNICK age 79 of Ogden Dunes passed away Tuesday May 18 2010 at home with his loving family at his side. Survived by his wife of 30 years Judy (nee Taylor) four children: James Douglas (Cindy) Thomas Jr. of Chesterton Jack D. Thomas of Portage Kimberly Sue (Johnny) Stancato of Portage Jeffery Brian (Heather) Thomas of OR 11 grandchildren: James Douglas Thomas III Jonathon W. (Jackie) Thomas Jessica Nicole and Samuel Grant Thomas Hollie A. (Jonathan) Bingham Mallory I. (fiance Justin DeGraff) Martin Devin and Cody Martin Johnny Stancato Jr. Beneshi Machaud Ry Machaud seven great grandchildren: Savannah Jack Charlie Kailey Aden Devin Jr. newborn Scarlett brother Virgil Alexander Spornick of Ogden Dunes. Preceded in death by parents Lazarus and Marie Spornick sister-in-law Dr. Lynna B. Spornick. Mr. Spornick was a past member of the Ogden Dunes Lions Club the Portage Township YMCA and the U.S. Steel Retirees Breakfast Club. He was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School Class of 1948 and Purdue University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired General Foreman at U.S. Steel with 30 years of service. Mr. Spornick was an instructor for the apprenticeship program at Bethlehem Steel for Ivy Tech for ten years. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 2700 Willowcreek Rd. Portage Friday May 21 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday May 22 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Robert Leach officiating. At rest Calvary Cemetery Portage. Memorials are preferred to VNA Hospice Center.
