Connie Lee Lewis (nee Philpott), age 71, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

Connie is survived by her son, Kevin (Brittany) Lewis of Cedar Lake, IN; and her granddaughter, Adalynn Lewis; brother, William (Evelyn) Philpott of Quincy, IL; and niece, Brittany (Michael) Bleichner of Quincy, IL; and great-nephew, Elliot Bleichner.

Connie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Paul “Mikey” Lewis; and her parents: Herschel Clell and Phyllis Jean Philpott.

Connie served 34 years as an educator in Northwest Indiana. She taught English and Spanish. Connie taught at Lake Central High School from 1975-1983, Morgan Township from 1988-1989, and Merrillville High School from 1990-2013. She specialized in composition, mythology, and etymology.
Connie was an avid reader of historical fiction, mysteries, and a fan of the Grimmer Middle School Band.
She loved to travel and experienced Paris, London, Hawaii, and Alaska.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 9:00 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Connie’s name to Epilepsy Foundation, the American Heart Association, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
