Cherrie M. Carden “Gran”, age 73, of Hebron, IN, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, IN. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Marv Porter of Hebron, IN, Vonnie Randy Mehay of Wheatfield, IN, Rod Carden of Hebron, IN, Cherrie Lou Mike Walstra of Hebron, IN, Randy Dawn Carden of Rensselaer, IN, Greg Carden of Hebron, IN, and Jeff Paula Carden of Wheatfield, IN, 21 grandchildren, Tammy Ryan, Trent Porter, Libbi Cole Bearden, Adam and Nichole Mehay, Amy, Angela and Rachel Carden, Amber and Rachel Walstra, Tara Neal Ketchum, Justin Kelly Carden, Missy and Derek Carden, Gwen Walstra, Branden, Christopher and Krista Carden, Nathan Julie Carden, and Ryan and Shelbie Carden, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers, Dave Jean Smith and Frank Cheryl Smith both of Pennsylvania, sisters, Violet Martin and Marybell McClain both of Pennsylvania, special brother-in-law, Bill Carden of Hebron, IN and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Luther Carden, Jr., grandsons, Eric and Tony Mehay, granddaughter, Katlynn Carden, daughter-in-law, Lori Carden, her parents and her mother and father-in-law. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Geisen Funeral Home, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN, with Pastor Tom Shanahan officiating. Interment at Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, IN. Visitation will be held at the Geisen Funeral Home, Hebron on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Cherrie was retired from the Valparaiso Post Office with 29 years of service, loved to cook and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
