Charles “Charlie” Peretin, age 89, of Merrillville, IN, formerly of Glen Park, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023.
Charlie is survived by his two children: Charles “Chuck” (Karen) Peretin and Annie (Joe) Dixon; four grandsons: Shane Dixon, Jacob (Braelyn) Dixon, Andrew (Maggie) Peretin, and Dominic Peretin; three great-grandchildren: Harper and Charleigh Dixon and Eli Peretin; one great-grandson Dixon on the way; sister-in-law, Millie (late Joe) Peretin; nephews: Joe (Susie) Peretin and Tony (Lisa) Peretin; and niece, Mary (John) Horvat.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Peretin; parents: George and Stefanija Peretin; and his in-laws: Frank and Vilma Stipancic.
Mr. Peretin was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #170. Charlie was a retired millwright from U.S. Steel with over 42 years of service. He loved fixing and tinkering with objects, splitting firewood, making homemade wine, sausage, and other smoked meats, and taking care of his meticulous yard.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, IN 46368, from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
