Charles Merodias, age 88, of Crown Point, IN passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Charles is survived by his 2 daughters: Brenda Zieba and Charlene (Rick) Hise; 2 grandchildren: Rich (Kristen) Zieba and Christy Zieba; 2 great grandchildren: Hannah and Emma; a nephew; and three nieces.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ella “Louise”; parents: Harry and Xanthippi; brother: William; sister: Thelma; granddaughter: Richelle Zieba; and son-in-law: Richard Zieba.

Charles worked and retired from the Budd Company. He was a member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. He enjoyed fishing and working as an auto mechanic in his spare time. He was also a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E 113th Ave/South St, Crown Point, IN 46307 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017, at 10:00 AM directly at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville, IN with Fr. Theodore Poteres and Fr. George Pappas officiating. Interment will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.

Hello and I apologize for responding so very late. My sincerest condolences. I worked with Charlie for 5 years with Auto Emissions Program at Ivy Tech. I had just gotten a used car and was late to work one morning. Charlie was called to check on my car. When he returned back with my car he told me what he had done to my car. Then told me not let anyone touch my car!! To call him and he would take care of it. He was very conscious about his job and one of the sweetest people I knew. I was telling my daughter how my wheel almost flew off my car and that Charlie took care of it. Which led me to Google and found his Obituary. Eloise (Blumenthal) Berryman
