Catherine Krieter of Crown Point, IN formerly of Hammond, IN passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospice. She is survived by 3 sisters: Mary Ann King of Merrillville Cecilia Kendera of Merrillville Teresa Akey of Crown Point 2 brothers: Albert Patricia Krieter of Cedar Lake Jerome Joan Krieter of Crown Point Sister-in-law: Nadine Krieter of Valparaiso Numerous Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Matilda 2 brothers: Jacob and Francis Krieter 3 sisters: Agnes Krieter Rita Seberger-Rogers Sister M. Andrea Krieter Funeral Prayers will be said on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10:15AM at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW ADDRESS at 606 E. 113th Ave. Crown Point, IN 2 Blocks east of Broadway followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church 321 E. Joliet St. Crown Point at 11: 00 AM with Fr. Pat Kalich and Fr. Stanely Dominik concelebrating the Mass. Interment at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Merrillville, IN Visitation on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, Crown Point from 2:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 4:00 PM. Miss. Krieter was retired from St. Margaret Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She worked as a nurse for Little Company of Mary in Evergreen Park, IL, Jasper, IN and San Pierre, IN. Catherine also worked as a cook at St. John Bosco and as secretary for the Church Women United. I met Catherine at Chicagoland Christian Village while my mother was a resident there. Catherine and my mother shared the same dining table for their meals. I came to know Catherine as an interesting and loving person as she spoke of her childhood growing up on a dairy farm in Crown Point. She was very kind to my mother and our family appreciated her friendship. My brothers and I became quite fond of Catherine as we spent many mealtime hours speaking with her and getting to know her. We are so thankful that our paths crossed even for so brief a time. We are sorrowed by her passing and will truly miss her.

While Catherine was in rehab at Chicagoland Christian Village my mother was also there and they sat at the same table at meal times. My mom had some definite memory problems and Catherine was especially kind and loving to her. Mom could remember long ago and Catherine got her to talk about the past and that helped her get through her days there. I enjoyed visiting with Catherine and mom when I was there at meal times. She was a special gift to my mom and our family during that time. My thoughts and prayers are with Catherine and her family at this time. Dan Liechty
