Carl W.H. Para III, age 16, of Michigan City, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis, IN, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Chaplain Steve Lau of LaPorte Hospital officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Carl was born April 7, 1993 in Daytona Beach, FL to Carl W. Para Jr. and Rosalynn K. (Freel) Para, both whom survive in Michigan City. Also surviving are maternal grandmother Barbara Freel of Michigan City, paternal Grandmother Kathy McDonough of New Smyrna Beach, FL, paternal Grandfather Carl W. Para Sr. of New Smyrna Beach, FL, sister Alexandra K. Para of Michigan City, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Paul M. Freel, and uncle Stanley Kmak. He loved playing heavy metal guitar music. He also enjoyed playing basketball and especially enjoyed spending time with his Grandma Freel, Uncle Jim and cousin James, and his ray of sunshine, his sister Alexandria.
