Buddy “Bud” Winchester

March 18, 1933 - March 29, 2020

Buddy Winchester, age 87, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Bud is survived by his children: Karen (Bill) Carey, Kristina Schemerhorn and Robert (Nicolette) Winchester; grandchildren: Joseph Carey, Nicole Lambie, Alexandria Schemerhorn, Nathaniel (Megan) Winchester, Zane Winchester and Michaela Winchester; great-grandchildren: Madison and Connor Ellis; brother: Robert Winchester; and sister: Shirley Houghland. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Alice Winchester; parents: Homer and Agusta Winchester; brother: Wm. James Winchester; and sisters: Lorene “Billie” Bristow and W. Louise Claeys.

Bud worked for Illinois Bell and retired from AT & T in December 1991. He served as an Electricians Mate on the USS Kermit Roosevelt and was active in Telephone Pioneers and his Naval Ship reunions. Bud enjoyed golfing, traveling, woodworking, gardening, and was a life-time Cubs fan.  He loved being with his family.

Due to COVID-19, private family services were entrusted to Geisen Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made in Bud’s name to the American Cancer Society.
