Branden Alexander Kirkland, age 18, of Michigan City, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Branden was born May 22, 1991 in Valparaiso to Dennis M. and Shelley (Gloy) Kirkland, both whom survive in Michigan City. Also surviving are his sister Nikki (Aaron) Tiller of Verner, WV; brother Kyle Kirkland of Michigan City, nephew Cameron, nieces Ashli, Lauren and Emma Tiller, uncles Jim (Julie) Gloy and Kevin Gloy, both of Michigan City, cousins Jenna and Jamie Gloy, and numerous friends whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Frances Kirkland and grandfather Alvin Gloy. Branden was a 2009 graduate of Michigan City High School. He was looking forward to starting his Boilermaker apprenticeship, while training with his father. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting, fishing, boating, and skateboarding. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Michigan City.
