Arlene Rae Mirich

December 14, 1935 - August 2, 2009

Arlene Rae Mirich, age 73, of Merrillville passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospice in Crown Point, IN. She is survived by her husband, David Mirich; 2 children: Diane “Dee” Mirich of Merrillville, IN and Jennifer Lynn Bill Johnson of Augusta, GA; 2 grandchildren: Brennan Johnson & Erin Johnson both of Augusta, GA; mother, Dorothy E. Fahey of Merrillville; brother-in-law, Dr. Ernest Eleanor Mirich of Crown Point; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arlene was a 1953 Gary Emerson High School graduate. She was a probation officer for the Lake County Superior Court in Crown Point for 20 years. Arlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, with John Starr officiating. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Dave,Diane,Jennifer, and Aunt Dorothy, our sincere condolences to you for the loss of Arlene. We didn't know she was ill and we are sorry we did not come to the funeral. My mom's neighbors Archie and June Owens called us and let us know of the passing and funeral, but it was too late to make a visit. So please accept these words of expression for the loss of your loved one and know that we will always remember Arlene as a special cousin.

Dear Mirich Family, I'm very sorry for your loss. Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Dee, I lost my mom about seven years' ago, and she was my best friend too. She is still alive in my memories and in all that she taught me though. I know that it's very painful, and it seems hard to believe that the sorrow you feel can possibly have an end, but in time it does. She'll always be with you in your mind and heart.
