When I think of Arlene Im reminded of the many hours she spent visiting with my mom at our house on Washington Street. Back then neither of them worked outside the house and always enjoyed having coffee together while discussing current events or trading recipes. I remember one time when Dick called to say he wouldnt be home for dinner and Arlene had just whipped up a bowl of pancake batter. So instead of throwing it away she called mom and asked if any of the kids would like to come over for dinner. I happily volunteered and was treated to a pile of the first and best pancakes with bacon layed inside of them that Id ever had! One of our best memories was when Arlene and Alice came to our parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration. We were all thrilled to see them after so many years. Dave and I also had the opportunity to tell Arlene how we secretly had a crush on her in our childhood. Her reaction was truly memorable. Even though we havent seen her since we will all miss her smile and contagious laughter. God Rest Her Soul In Peace.

Truly sorry to hear of Arlenes passing. Growing up next door to Arlene and Richard we had a very lively part of a very lively neighborhood. Arlene was younger than all of the other Moms in the neighborhood so all of us young boys were in love with her. She never failed to put a smile on your face. We will miss her.

I remember Arlene fondly from my childhood in Gary Indiana. The Washington Street families stuck together during those sweet days and Arlene and my mother were very good friends sharing stories trials and joys about family-rearing day after day. I will always remember her kindness and closeness to our family and thank God that we were next door neighbors -- more like family than some families.
