Anton “Tony” Halfman, age 93, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife, Leona of 68 years at his side on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Anton is survived by 5 children: Gloria Owen Brown, Debra Thomas Mitchell, Jan Peter, Donald Beth, Joyce Stephen Macey; grandchildren: Blair Maria, Colleen, John, Sarah Kyle, Steven, Matthew, Michael and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Scott, Stavros, Ayla and Liberty; brothers and sisters: Leo Ada, Katherine Robert , Louise Julius, Joseph , Clarence Carol, Ralph, Gerry, and Leonard Laura Jean; sister-in-law, Nancy; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: John and Clara, brothers: Philip, Laurence and John; sisters: Mary, Anna and Cecelia. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church since his birth in 1917 and former caretaker of SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Tony retired from the Budd Company and he served in WWII. He was a member of the Einsiedeln Society. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10:00, AM DIRECTLY at St. Peter & Paul Church, 5885 Harrison St., Merrillville, IN, with Rev. Roy Beeching officiating with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Tony's name may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area or Einsiedeln Society of Saint Meinrad, Saint Meinrad, IN 47577.
