ANTOINETTE TONIVASSALLO (nee Ballerino) age 88 of Merrillville passed away Sunday March 30 2008. Survived by son Joseph (Betty) Vassallo of Crown Point daughter Mary (Warren) Harman of Lakeland FL daughter-in-law Judy Vassallo of Crown Point six grandchildren: Amy Harman of San Diego CA Patricia Harman of Strongsville OH Joseph (Maria) Vassallo of Elgin IL Deanna (David) Scholl of Crown Point Anthony (Amanda Eich) Vassallo of Chicago IL Marc (Amy) Vassallo of Crown Point five great grandchildren: Sam and Emma Vassallo William Julia and Sophia Scholl. Preceded in death by husband of 42 years James Vassallo son James Vassallo Jr. four brothers: Tony Joe Peter and David Ballarino. Toni was born to Mary and Giuseppe Ballerino in Italy February 4 1920. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Froebel High School Class of 1937 worked for U.S. Steel Sheet & Tin Mill for 5 years and was head bookkeeper for the Dalton Corp for 32 years retiring in 1988. She was an 18-year member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and a member of NAIM.
