November 12, 1918 - January 1, 2010

Ann C. Smith nee Repay, age 91 of Merrillville, IN passed away Friday January 1, 2010 at St. Anthony Hospice. Loving memories of her will be cherished by: daughters, Jeanette Dimitri Vuletic and JoAnn late Dr. Joseph Kahl; son, Robert E. Pamela A. Smith; grandchildren: Tom Kahl, Betsy Kahl, Cathy Glenn Taylor and Christina Vuletic; great-granddaughters, Aurelia & Gabriela; and sister, Pauline Steve Calfa of Whiting. Ann is preceded in death by her by her loving husband of 64 years, Eugene “Gene” Smith, parents George and Mary nee Pado Repay; brothers: George and Michael and sister Mary Fox. Ann Smith was a longtime resident of Gary and later Independence Hill of Merrillville. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Merrillville. Ann's beautiful smile, warmth, and gentle loving kindness will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 8303 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN with Fr. Peter Muha officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Visitation will be held at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN on Monday January 4, 2010 from 3:00-7:00 PM and on Tuesday morning DIRECTLY at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Saint Anthony Hospice, 203 Franciscan Dr., Crown Point, IN. 46307. Dear Bobby, Jeanette and JoAnn, Aunt Ann will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her. I have never seen a greater example of or a more loving and blessed life than the one they shared. May God bless each of you and give you strength during this terrible time of sorrow. There is no doubt that Aunt Ann is in Heaven now with Uncle Gene. I can nearly see them smiling at each other right now in my mind. Uncle Gene teasing her to no end and her smiling up at him. No greater life could be lived than the one they lived with such great love between them. We all were blessed to have known them and to have shared the love each of us felt whenever around them. I'm sure they are both in Heaven feeling no pain. God bless all of you and the family and friends too.
