Andrew “Andy” Dapkus Jr. , age 77, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Glen Park, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospice in Crown Point, IN. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Dapkus-Doffin of Shelby, IN, sons, Steven Darlene Dapkus of Hebron, IN, Vince Dapkus of Crown Point, IN, grandchildren, Jeremy and Eric Doffin, Christopher, Nicholas and Samantha Dapkus, Brianna and Gabrielle Dapkus, great-grandchildren, Catelynn and Cortnee Doffin. Preceded in death by wife, Irene and sister, Agnus Vincent. Private Funeral Services will be held. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Andy was a U.S. Navy Veteran, USS Seminole, serving during the Korean War. He was retired from U.S. Steel-Gary Works with 45 years of service, working all 5 open hearths and both Bop Shops and was a member of the Steel Workers Union 1014.
