Alfurd Risner, age 93, of Michigan City passed away April 14, 2024.
He was born on April 23, 1929, in North Judson, to Huston and Lewie (Marshall) Risner, who preceded him in death.
Alfurd married Judy G. Risner on April, 26, 1952, in Chesterton. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Shelby Risner; son-in-law, John Heffelifinger; grandchildren, Tricia (Doug) Hunt, Tracie Mikulski-Kleven, Terri Fitzpatrick and Aaron Wireman; sisters, Evelyn (Gene) Raby and Glenda (Bill) Deshon; brothers-in-law, Vernon (Kathy) Barnett, Jack (Joann) Barnett and Doug (Gail) Barnett; sisters-in-law, Pamela (Bill) Manns and Pat Risner; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Alfurd was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxann Heffelifinger; son, Gregory Alfurd Risner; and siblings, Geneva Bell Risner, Houston/Lewie Risner, Genus Risner, Etta Risner, IIean Rokie, Harold (Opal) Risner, Fritz Risner and Nelson Risner.
Alfurd proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from GATX after 20 years of dedicated service. Alfurd went on to drive a handicap school bus for 14 years. He was an avid gardener, loved golfing and could fix anything.
A visitation will be held at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 10 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
Burial at 1 p.m. CST at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville, Indiana.
