Alberta “Bert” M. Taylor, age 76, of Michigan City, died Wednesday, March 31st at 11:20 a.m. at her home in Michigan City after a long illness. She was Surrounded by her family at the time . The service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday April 6, 2010 at the Carlisle Funeral Home, with Chaplain Mick Sommers of Harbor Lights Hospice officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Alberta was born July 3, 1933 in Michigan City to Charles and Beatrice (Archer) Haack, both of whom preceded her in death. Alberta married James W. Taylor on July 13, 1953 and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. James passed away in March of 2007. Surviving is her son James A. (Caryl) Taylor of LaPorte.One grandson, Chris Keeney of LaPorte. Alberta was preceded in death by her daughter Tonnie Tucker in September of 2009. Mrs. Taylor had proudly been a homemaker the majority of her life. Bert also enjoyed gardening. She was known as a collector of most anything she enjoyed, and made sure there was enough to share with everyone. Rising Boston Terriers was also a special hobby for her and Jim. She leaves fondly behind her special Boston Terrier “Buddy”. Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Assoc., Michiana Humane Society or Visiting Angels of Michiana.
