ALAN C. GARDNER, age 73 of Portage, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He is survived by wife of 49 years: Jacqueline; six children: Wally (Barbara) Gardner, Alan Jr. (Laurie) Gardner, Cathy (Joe) Hicks, Jackie Schipper, James Gardner, and John Gardner; 25 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son: Michael Gardner; daughter: Lorreta Bruce. Alan was the owner of All-Pro Construction. He was proud of all of his children. He coached each of them in their respected sports; which includes basketball, football, baseball, and swimming. Alan was a swim official and an avid Bears, Bulls, and Notre Dame fan. He attended McKeesport High School and Washington & Jefferson College where he exceled in football. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (2700 Willowcreek, Portage) on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Funeral service will be Monday, June 9, 2014 from Pruzin Brothers Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Duane Schmidt officiating. At rest, Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
