Virginia C. Rudolph (Reeder) , age 91, entered into eternal life on October 29th 2022.
She is survived by her loving children: Robert (Linda) Rudolph, Laura (Jay) Rudolph Strauch; 6 grandchildren: Steven (Kathryn) Rudolph, Matthew (Emily) Rudolph, Heather Rudolph, Sherree (Preston) Schrader, Jennifer (Mark) Garrison, Julie (Jonathan) Horn; 3 great-grandchildren: Lennon Rudolph, Liousia Rudolph, and Emmit Rudolph.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jimmie G. Rudolph; her parents: George and Elbethel Reeder; and her sister, Barbra Hovland.
Virginia was born in Gary, IN. She graduated from Horace Mann High School, Class of 1949. She worked at Anderson Co., until she married her husband, Jimmie Rudolph on August 11, 1951. Virginia was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a homemaker, managed a home business and later worked as a cosmetologist and sales representative for JCPenney for 15 years. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, school volunteer and community correspondent. Virginia was an avid golfer and even got a Hole in One. She was a member of the Ladies leagues at Sherwood Golf Club & Dunedin Country Club. She was also an avid seamstress especially enjoying needlepoint, cruel, crochet and all types of knitting. Virginia was a lover of books and poetry, and all the performing arts. She enjoyed camping throughout the country and international travel with her husband. Later, in retirement, Virginia and Jim moved to Dunedin, FL where they continued to golf and enjoy friends. Here, Virginia became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution by tracing family genealogy to the patriots of The Revolutionary War. DAR service became a large part of Virginia’s life as a member of the Caladesi Chapter in Dunedin, FL. Her researched lineage has been extended to induct her daughter and granddaughters also as national members of DAR. Her DAR work has influenced her children and grandchildren instilling a patriotic reverence to her family.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 11, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 352 S. Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307 from 11:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 PM with Pastor Mark Wilkins officiating.
Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
