Thomas “Steve” Easton, age 71, of Hebron, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Steve is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Thomas “Steve” Easton, age 71, of Hebron, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Steve is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Easton (nee Morse); children: Amanda Easton Bird (Joshua), Jodi Kay Daniels, Adam J. Easton, Matthew D. Daniels; grandchildren: James Bird, A.J. Easton, Lauren Bird, Asher Bird, Addyson Daniels, Cameron Daniels, Gabriella Easton, Hunter Daniels, Norah Daniels, Drake Daniels; and mother, Fern Ostermeier; and mother-in-law, Evelyn “Katie Girl” Morse.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Allen Easton; and stepfather, Vernon Ostermeier; son, Jack A. Daniels; brother, Robert Lee Easton; uncle(s) James Gasaway, Carl Leathers, Fred Leathers, “Beanie” Leathers, and Jim Moore; sister-in-law, Tammy Gidcumb; brother-in-law, Chuck Morse; and father-in-law, James F. Morse.
Steve served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Newport News.
Steve worked as a locomotive engineer with Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of UTU(E) Local as a chairman, and also the Masonic Lowvale Lodge #1139, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the NRA.
Steve loved to travel, play board games, and spend time with his many friends, his family, and loved ones. Steve also enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pool and putzing around his house and yard.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 2:00 PM until the time of Funeral Service at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Steve’s name to American Legion of your choice.
