Shirley Mae Carl

Shirley M. Carl (nee Zizkovsky) of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on September, 16, 2023. She was a graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1950.

Shirley was born on May, 20, 1932, in Hammond, IN to Frank and Louise Zizkovsky.

Shirley is survived by her children: Andrea (Greg) Rigby, Rich (Laura Vance) Carl, Alan (Linda Fletcher) Carl; daughter-in-law, Cindy Carl (nee Imboden); 3 grandchildren: Bryan Carl, Matthew Carl, AJ Carl; sister, Barbara Knibbs; sister-in-law, Carol Jean (Tom) Witten; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Carl; son, Bryan Carl; sister, Delores Lugar; and parents: Frank & Louise Zizkovsky.

Shirley worked for Armstrong Jewelers and helped her husband run Carl & Son Plumbing and Heating in Merrillville, IN. Shirley loved to travel and golf.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 30, 2023 DIRECTLY at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11301 W. 93rd Avenue, St. John, IN 46373 from 10:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Shirley’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
