Shirley A. Schoenbeck (nee Panfil), age 85, of Merrillville, IN, formerly of Oak Forest, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Shirley is survived by her 2 sons: Don (Cindy) Schoenbeck, Dave (Bonnie) Schoenbeck; 6 grandchildren: David Schoenbeck, Jr., Tim (Danielle) Ryan, Alyssa (Gary) Kempf, Brett (Gigi) Ryan, Noah Schoenbeck, Hannah Schoenbeck; 5 great-grandchildren: Jack, Adam, Luke, Gavin, Grayson; and her many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schoenbeck; daughter, Debbie Ryan; parents: Louis and Lillian Panfil; and her 11 siblings.

Shirley was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Gage Park High School, Class of 1954. She fell in love and married Donald Schoenbeck on October 3, 1959 and began their family together in Oak Forest, IL. They owned and operated Don’s Drive-In Florist in Evergreen Park, IL with 25 years of service to their community. She was a terrific mother who raised her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids with all of her heart and soul. Shirley will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at a later date.

Don - Although I don't know the rest of your family, I want to extend my sincere sympathies to you all. As you may remember, I lost my own mother in December at the age of 94. Your mom was a unique person who had a restricted few she counted as friends at Belvedere, and I was happy to count myself as one of them.
