Sandy is survived by her loving husband: Howard; daughters: Jill (Christopher) Saenz, Jodi (Donny) Nielson, and Joy (Joseph) Meece; step-daughter: Pamela Subin; step-sons: Timothy (Denise) Whiting and Dennis (Linda) Whiting; grandchildren: Anna Joy, Emily, Sean, Michael, Tyler, Joseph Jr., Daniel, Sarah, Suzanne, Joshua, Alan, Taylor, Xavier, Gage, Dylan, Lilly, Michael, Jeremy, Zachary, Keifen, and Scott; 13 great-grandchildren; brother: Dennis (Cuiping) Pochron. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ted and Marjorie; stepson: Howard Whiting Jr.; granddaughter: Jessica Whiting.

Sandy retired with 37 years of dedicated service from State Farm Insurance in Michigan City. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and spent over fifty years as a Sunday School teacher there. Sandy was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed both crossword puzzles and attending craft shows. Her faith and her family were the most import things in her life. Sandy will be missed by all who knew her

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN 46360 from 4 to 8 PM and on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at St. Luke United Lutheran Church, 2000 E. Coolspring Ave. Michigan City, IN from 10 AM to time of service.

Funeral Service at St. Luke United Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ruth Popkin officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing at 6 feet must be followed and face masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be given to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383, vnanwi.org or St. Luke’s Sunday School, 2000 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, IN 46360.

I was so very sorry to learn of Sandy’s passing. Sandy worked in my dad’s State Farm office for years. The things I will always remember about Sandy are her smile and her contagious laugh. Every time I saw her she was smiling. I know my mom and dad considered her family. Please know that I’m thinking of you all during this difficult time.

I have so many memories with Sandy, the unique memory I have is when I came my first time to meet my them ...Grandpa Howard & Grandma Sandy It was my first time seeing the snow so I went outside around 8:00am to touch it, she was so worry and concern that I could get sick....she always help others. There are many more memories that I will never forget. Sandy you allways be in our heart and mind...❤❤
