Ronald Joseph Dinga, age 67, of Demotte IN, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Ron is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Saskor/Malia) Dinga; sons, Walter (Sheri) Dinga of Demotte, Keith (Rachell) Dinga, of Bloomington, IN; daughter, Mandy (Rick) Coleman of Hebron, IN; step-son, Matthew (Michelle) Novak of Griffith, IN; and step-daughter, Jennifer Novak Rios of Valparaiso, IN; brother, William (Barbara) Dinga of Dyer, IN; four sisters: Ann (Paul) Peters of Crown Point, IN, Kathy Dinga of Dyer, IN; Patty (James) Ahrendt of Kingman, IN; Barbara Werblo of St. John, IN; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his father William Dinga, mother Mary Werblo, daughter Rhonda Dinga, son Kenneth Dinga, and his wife Cynthia (nee Malia) Dinga, (m. 1973-2005).

Ron was born in Hammond, IN on December 21, 1952. He and his family resided in Dyer, IN until 1990, upon which they moved to Demotte.

Ron was an automotive technician for 30 years at South Oak Dodge in Matteson, Illinois. After his retirement he and his wife Patricia opened a coffee shop and café in Demotte, Indiana, “Somethin’s Brewin @ ReChic Unique”. Ron was always turning a wrench and fixing cars. He was an avid NHRA fan and Mopar lover. He loved gardening with his wife and riding on their Harleys every chance they had.

“I must have dozed off for a bit. When I woke up, I had changed. I understand that I left my life on earth for a more permanent one elsewhere. I cannot say that this came as a total shock to me, since I had not been feeling well for a long time. I just knew that something terrible was happening. I really knew. Hopefully, God will take into consideration the good things I did throughout my short mortal life. I hope that my infinite patience and love for my family will go a long way toward shortening my time in Purgatory.

Being an animal lover like St. Francis must count on the plus side. Tiny birds, squirrels, fish, cats and dogs, I was crazy about them all. Who will feed them now that I’m gone? I loved grilling on the outdoor grill, especially seafood and steaks, and burgers. I think I am going to miss my shrimp and pasta. I miss perogies with butter. I loved details, especially detailing my vehicle. I loved cruising down the highway on my bike, with my wife. It was one of those little, but great, pleasures. I loved to laugh out loud at good jokes and I loved my music. I was never that crazy about some of the classical stuff. Landscaping was one of my loves, one of my strong suits, if you will. My hands still have dirt on them from my last foray into the back yard. Oh, well, that is not exactly what they worry about here. I hope I see my family who have been waiting for me in heaven soon. Everyone messes up during his or her stay on this earth. I want those closest to me to know that I am sorry. Maybe there is something more I can do from up here. I hope so. I tried to be a true friend to those closest to me, and even a friend to those who were not truly my friends. Here is hoping that my Guardian Angel knows some stuff about me that will get me through the gate. (I really don’t think that trying to climb over it is such a good idea.) To all my doctors, nurses, therapists, and assistants at the hospital, my wife thanks you, my children thank you, my grandchildren thank you, my sisters thank you, my brother thanks you, and I thank God for all of you. Please keep praying for me.”

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing at 6 feet and face masks will be required; and lounge and reception areas are closed, so food donations are not being accepted.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions at the church, a Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the family on Monday, August 3, 2020 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Demotte with Fr. Dennis Faker officiating. Burial following at Cemetery of the Resurrection in Demotte will be open to the public.
