Rolland “Rollie” Lawrenz, age 90, of Michigan City, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21, 2023. He was born on November 6, 1932 to Carl and Mary (Linshaw) Lawrenz who preceded him in death.
Rollie married the love of his life, Karen Couch on August 6, 1960 at St. John’s Church in Michigan City.
Rollie is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; children: Rob (Carol) Lawrenz of Michigan City and Kathy (Sean Bishop) Lawrenz of Golden, Colorado; granddaughters: April and Rachel (Brian Burk); nephews: John (Marion) Lawrenz, James Lawrenz, Kevin Couch, Terri Vedron, and Thomas Vedron; and nieces: Dawn Popps, Keri Stillwell, and Tammy Vedron. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Fritz and Carl Lawrenz Jr.
Rollie was an avid farmer. He worked at St. John Church for 23 years as well as Joy & Josam Manufacturing. He was a member of the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 as well as St. John’s Good Timers Club. He loved nature and animals and enjoyed fishing in Minnesota. Rollie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Greenwood Cemetery, 153 Tilden Avenue, Michigan City, IN 46360. Arrangements were entrusted with Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN 46360.
