Robert J. Filarski

Robert John Filarski, age 76, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Born in Chicago, IL on November 21, 1946.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Nicoletta Filarski (nee Bergamo); son, Eric Filarski (Mary Filarski née Mandalke); grandchildren: Shelby, Griffin, Jack, and Bruce; brother, Ronald Filarski ( sister-in-law, Shirley Filarski); sister, Rosanne Heyser née Filarski (brother-in-law, William Heyser), nephew & nieces: Ronald Filarski (Laura Filarski née Labrador), Jessica Hellenbrand née Filarski (Dale Hellenbrand), Jackie Lindahl née Filarski (Ryan Lindahl), Ashley Churchill née Heyser (Ryan Churchill), & Lindsay Heyser.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: John and Florence (nee Ciezadlo) Filarski and niece, Robyn Filarski.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army Artillery Division from 1966-1968. He was a Vietnam War veteran.

He had a long-standing career in Technology as a Securities Consultant with CNA Insurance Company in Chicago. After retirement, he worked part-time at H&R Block as a Tax Consultant.

Bob was a dedicated collector of sports memorabilia (Cubs fan), music albums (Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones & early rock & roll were favorites), Movies (favorite: 2001, a Space Odyssey), & Books (science fiction genre). He enjoyed gardening and cherished his animals.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre where Bob will be cremated.
