RAYMOND M. PAVEL Survived by wife Cecilia Pavel, brother-in-law: David & brother-in-law: Jim Kasper: sister-in-law: Barbara; cousins: George Pavel; Pavel & Praschak families; and many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents: John and Julia Pavel; brother Edward Pavel; sister Julianna Kasper. Raymond was a head chemical technician at U.S. Steel-Sheet & Tin Mill-Gary Works in Quality Assurance-Metallurgical Lab, and also, worked at U.S. Steel-Double Eagle Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and ushered at St. Mark’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches. He was a past member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. Ray was a member of and past officer of Knights of Columbus-Good Shepherd Council and a past member of Abraham Lincoln Assembly. He was a member and Charter Officer and past Officer of K of C Santa Maria Venegas Assembly. A graduate of Horace Mann High School. Raymond was a member of USWA local #1066, SOAR (Senior Org of Active Retirees), Jednota Lodge #289, American Legion Post #430, Life Member VFW Post #1563 FOPA Lodge #168. Experimental Aircraft Association, past member Slovak Club, and Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. He was an Army Engineer Intelligence veteran of the Korean War and offset pressman. Ray earned national accolades for his work in photography. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary service at 5:00 P.M., American Legion Service at 6:00 p.m. and K of C Honor Guard from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (330 E. 45th Ave, Gary) with Rev. Steven Loncar officiating. At rest Ridgelawn-Mount Mercy Cemetery, Gary. Masses appreciated.
