RAYMOND CHANDLER NIX SR. age 74 of LeCanto FL formerly of Crown Point IN passed away Friday January 14 2011 at Tampa General Hospital due to complications from a massive stroke. Mr. Nix was born on December 10 1936 in Corona Alabama. He relocated to Northwest Indiana in 1954 where he lived until retiring to Florida in 1999. Ray was comfortably enjoying his life with his loving companion and friend Jo Windle. Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Margaret June Nix. He is survived by his four children: Carolyn (Clark) Catlow of Noblesville IN Raymond Jabo(Patty) Nix Jr. of Crown Point IN Patricia Dee(Tim) OHare of Lowell IN and Carmella Hall of Fishers IN. nine grandchildren two great grandchildren. Mr. Nix worked as a Millwright for U.S. Steel Company in Gary IN. He retired after 28 years of service and was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Local 1066. Ray affectionately referred to as Paw-Pawwas an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed camping fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He liked to play cards and entertain in his home. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service 811 E. Franciscan Dr. (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55) Crown Point for a memorial visitation on Friday January 21 2011 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm with Rev. Jerry Ulrich officiating. A celebration of Mr. Nixs life will take place at 7:00 pm at Eagles Aerie #2659 Crown Point. All friends are invited to participate and share their loving memories of Ray and his life.

When I think of my childhood I remember that my favorite times were when I went over to Uncle Raymonds and Aunt Junes house with Kish and Kitten. I loved Uncle Rays humor I still use his jokes on my own kids. He was a big part of giving my life stability and I love him for that.
