Joyce Graves Wisthoff left a message on September 26, 2005:
Two weeks ago my youngest daughter spent a week in Ashville, NC at an education seminar. At that time, we were talking about the beauty of the area and I told her that I had a friend from many years ago that had retired to Ashville from CP and that friend was Ray. I read about his passing today when trying to get caught up on my newspaper reading....out of town for a few days. My meeting Ray was through Fleming Realty. I started to work there, part-time, in 1967 and I remember very clearly how the agents put notes on a clipboard for Ray when we needed to have some work done on one of our listings. There was always a lot of notes and Ray took care of them....smiling all the time. His cheerful personality and boundless energy always amazed me. I know that Bruce Fleming and Pat Patton also gone were very fond of him and treasured his friendship. I did not get to know Erma very well and was sorry to know that she too had passed on. Ray even gave me advise when I was shopping for a good used car for one of my four daughter. He could always be counted on for helpful information and he glady gave it if asked. I alway said that he reminded me of Fred Astaire and if my memory is correct, he and Erma could dance like him. I am still an active realtor in CP and my memory goes back 38 plus years and Ray Lankford is one of the pleasant memories of those early years. I extend my condolences to all of his family.
