Paul Fernwalt, age 81, of Griffith, IN passed away July 28, 2004 at Hospice of Calumet, the Riley Residence of Munster. He is the beloved husband of Rose, Father of Debra Joy John Gavelek of Kona, Hawaii and Brother to Ruth late Bob Crouch of Danville, CA. He has many nieces, nephews and friends and will be sadly missed. A 35 year resident of Griffith, Paul was born in Johnstown, PA on July 3, 1923. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed in accounting at U.S. Steel South Works for 30 years until the facility closed. Paul was an avid gardener and a graduate of Lake County's Master Gardner Course. He served as a softball coach for the Griffith Girl's League, enjoyed sightseeing in Hawaii and watching sports on TV. Private burial services were held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Crown Point, IN. Geisen Funeral Home, 109 N. East St., Crown Point in charge of arrangements.
