Nancy Widelski (nee Russ), age 65, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her home in Michigan City.
Nancy was born November 21, 1951 in Michigan City, IN to Roger and Ellen (Howell) Russ who
preceded her in death. She married her high school sweetheart, Vic, on February 3, 1973,
recently celebrating their 44th anniversary.
Nancy is also survived by her children: Jennifer (Christian) Siewert and Jeff (Eliza Hagman)
Widelski; grandchildren: Finn, Lieve, and Rafe Siewert and one grandson on the way; sister
Linda. She was also preceded in death by brother: Dave.
Nancy graduated beauty college after high school and worked as a hair stylist, leaving the
workplace to be a devoted full time mom for many years. Reentering the work place, Nancy
enjoyed work at the Michigan City Public Library and secretarial positions in the area,
eventually finding a passion for her work at the Human Rights Commission and moving up to
Director for several years and retiring in 2006.
Upon retirement Nancy and Victor fulfilled their love of travel visiting England, Rome,
Greece, Turkey, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, among others. At home, Nancy spoiled her
grandchildren with abandon and loved them as only a grandmother (Mimi, as she was known
by them) can. To be sure, she was looking forward to her newest grandson due in August, and
was already ordering gifts for his arrival.
Nancy Widelski may best be remembered by so many for her exceptional beauty, both inside
and out, her eclectic taste in music, artifacts, design, her amazing home cooking, and for her
wry sense of humor.
