The Lord called Nancy Lindbeck Bates , age 74, from the St. Anthony Hospice in Crown Point, IN on April 30, 2004. Born in Jamestown, NY, November 24, 1929, she graduated from Jamestown High School and Wells College, Aurora, NY. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years Charles, two sons, Charles Jr. Diann and Rick Robyn Lynn , her daughter Penny John Crosland, and three grandchildren John Jr. and Cathy Crosland and Charles Bates III. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point, where she was active in Martha Circle, the Resale Shop, the Presbyterian Women's Association past moderator and as a member of numerous bible study groups. Nancy was past president of Questers, the Crown Point Garden Club, and the Friends of the Crown Point Library. She was a Master Gardener, Master Composter, and a member in Hub Homemakers. She was a member of the Indiana Dunes Great Banquet community. She was awarded the distinction of being an honorary member in the Program Agency of the PC USA . Nancy volunteered her efforts to many organizations including Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts as well as with the St. Anthony Auxiliary, serving many years until he retirement. In their retirement, she traveled the world extensively with her husband. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point, 218 S. Court St. on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Rusty Cowden and Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Friends may visit with the family at 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, she requested that contributions may be made to the Building Fund through the Church's Memorial Foundation at 218 S. Court St, Crown Point, IN 46307.
