June 18, 1980 - June 23, 2020

Matthew P. Shelton, age 40, of Portage, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital.

Matthew is survived by his parents: Sandy and Larry Shelton; brother, Eric (Gloria Hinojosa) Shelton; nephews: Andrew and Austin Shelton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mildred and Clifford Sweeney, and Prim and Helen Shelton.

Matthew worked for Opportunity Enterprises at Lakeside for many years. He was a connoisseur of fast food – the reward received for a hard day of work.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, visitation at the Funeral Home will be limited, social distancing at 6 feet and face masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Matthew’s name to Opportunity Enterprises.

Matthew was a hell of a guy he's gone too soon but will not be forgotten love your cousin Paul Ramsey.

Sandy, I don’t know if you remember me but I worked at Lute with Matt. He meant so much to me. I really felt like he and I shared a bond and I was so honored that showed me so much of his personality. It all started with the theme from Batman. I will never forget his love for Mountain Dew and Hidden Valley Ranch dressing...something we had in common! Matt brought so much joy to me and he was more than a “client”. He was like family. I am sending hugs and prayers to you and your family.
