MARIAN E. GUNIA, age 95 of Munster; formerly of Hammond, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019.
She is survived by her four children: John S. (Nina) Gunia, Kenneth M. Gunia, Mary Ellen B. (Roy) Slazyk, Anthony G. (Susan) Gunia; 8 grandchildren: Dr. Carey Eckdahl and Erin Gunia, Matthew Gunia, Mary K., Elizabeth, and Alexandra Kaminski, Eric and Christina Gunia; 10 great-grandchildren: David, Joshua, Robert, Jack, Julianna, John, Kacee, Jaleah, Zachary, and A.J.; two sisters: Helen Lasicz, Veronica (Michael) Whitico; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband John S. Gunia, Sr.; two brothers: Frank and Joseph Gryzbek; and her sister Catherine Brynner.
Mrs. Gunia was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a former member of St. John Bosco and St. Joseph Catholic Churches in Hammond. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality while at St. John Bosco. She also belonged to K of C Wives Club and to the Navy Mothers Club.
