Louis Martinez Jr., age 77, of Portage, IN, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Louis is survived by his wife, Dawn Martinez; children: Michael Martinez, Wendy (Scott) Martinez-Schmitt, Louis (Evone) Martinez, Shawna (Hector) Balderas, Cathy Martinez; 13 grandchildren; brother, Frank Martinez; and sisters: Eloise DeLaCruz, Rebecca (Vincent) Soto, Phyllis Delgado, Sue Arias.

Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Josefa Barjas; father, Louis Martinez; son, Ricky Martinez; brothers: Jesse Martinez, Rudolfo Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Johnny Martinez; and sisters: Mary Ramos, Josephine Solberg, Inez Davids.

Louis retired from Inland Steel after 32 years. He was a graduate of Horace Mann High School, Class of 1964 and attended IVY Tech.
Louis enjoyed swimming, playing chess, watching western movies, and discussing the history of war. He was an avid music listener, coin collector and a Dallas Cowboys fan. During his early years he often would be found outdoors working in his garage or doing landscape while his kids played nearby. Most of all, Louis loved spending time at home with his family playing board games, movie night, or just sitting and talking with them. His life was his family and He loved them dearly. He not only will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him but UNFORGETTABLE.
