Larry J. Swanson Sr., age 61, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Franciscan Health in Michigan City, IN. Larry was born July 14, 1959 in Michigan City to Harold and Gladys (Keifer) Swanson who preceded him in death. He was married on November 14, 1981 in Michigan City to Pamela Steinborn, who survives.

Larry is also survived by his sons: Larry J. (Kayla) Swanson Jr.and Paul A. (Ashley) Swanson; grandchildren: Ryan, Kayley, Sophia and Quinn; sister: Pat (Thomas) Seymour. He was also preceded in death by sister: Theresa Creager, two aunts and an uncle.

Larry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was retired with 25 years of service from Smith Chevrolet in Hammond, and also worked for Goodyear in Michigan City. Larry’s hobby was working on cars. He loved playing with his grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN 46360. (Covid mandates a limit of 25 people)

Private Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2021, officiated by Pastor Mark Reshan of St. Paul Lutheran Church and will conclude at the Funeral Home.

Those in attendance will be required to wear face masks and practice social distancing in accordance with Covid-19 mandates.

I am so sorry that Larry passed-he was such a character when he was younger! My condolences to all of his family and friends

I had very few interactions with Uncle Larry. So any I did I have I cherished. I remember a time when I was sitting at his kitchen table and he told me of the Swanson family military history of service. He told me how strong the men are in the Swanson family and how they have a natural sense of duty. No life is easy and there will always be struggles. But a Swanson never gives up they persevere and fight to become better. I am eager to see the future Larry left for us, his children a d grandchildren and the achievements that they will make. I miss you Larry. Until we meet again.
