John Michael “Mickey” McCarthy, age 66, of Munster, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. John Michael “Mickey” McCarthy, age 66, of Munster, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie Ann McCarthy; children: Michael (Kayla) McCarthy and Jaclyn (Jordan) Knight; grandchildren: Brody, Austin, Colin, and Gianna Knight, Braydon McCarthy, and William; brother, Donald Stanley Stankas; and sister, Virginia Marie Stankas (Don) Orlof.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents: John Daniel and Helen Amelia McCarthy; brother, Thomas Edward Stankas; grandparents: Agnus and Steve Butkus; and niece, Baby Girl Stankas.
Mickey worked for the Village of Dolton with over 40 years of service. He was an athlete who instilled his love for sports in his children and grandchildren. He continued to coach, umpire, and be a fan. Mickey was a devoted husband to Julie who recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. He loved his children and grandchildren and was always proud of them. Mickey always showed up for everyone including his many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 6, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, 352 S. Main St., Crown Point, IN 46307, with Pastor Mark Wilkins officiating.
