John Kevin McCaffrey, age 62, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

John is survived by his fiancé, Kristin VarnHagen; nieces: Shannon (Brendan) Venturelli, Kaylee Flaherty, Riley Flaherty; cousin, Marian Williamson; and uncle, Bill.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; parents: Martin and Marian Flaherty; brother, Michael Flaherty; and sister-in-law, Therese Flaherty.

John worked for Illinois Department of Transportation in Emergency Traffic Patrol and also worked as a professional chef. He served his country in the U.S. Army.  John enjoyed riding his Harley and especially loved traveling in his retirement. Some of his favorite places were Mackinac Island, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 2:00 PM until the time of Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.
