So sad to see you go so early Joel. I will always have fond memories of you and your laugh and smile. It was always a great time being with you and the family. I was happy to be at your house the Sunday after Christmas and have a snort of that bourbon whiskey with you. Say hi to everyone and keep the party going until we all meet again in heavens backyard. Love you and miss you!

Condolences to the Matthews family, he was loved by so many and hard to believe he is no longer with us, I will cherish the memories of Joe for he was always a jokester and knew how to light up a room with his laughter. RIP Joe ❤

I have so many memories from my childhood; I think I spent more time at Aunt Gayle & Uncle Joe’s than I did my own home. When we kids were too loud and rowdy he would yell with a smirk on his face we’d run to the bedroom and giggle. His bark was worse than his bite. His laughter filled a room you couldn’t help but laugh with him. Prayers of peace and comfort to Gayle, Tira, Holly, Lori and their families as they continue on life’s journey without him. Rest In Peace Uncle Joe you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I want to wish you the sincerest condolences from the Trzupek family. We are all shocked and heart broken over the passing of Joel. He was truly a great man that loved his family and did whatever was needed to give his family the best. I know you are celebrating his life so the one story I would like to share is whenever he would leave a note for his girls. He would always spell it grills and I know Holly always laughed about it. I’m positive he knew how to spell girls, but he knew that would make them laugh and that was all that mattered to him. May you Rest In Peace and God bless Joel and the entire Matthews family during this incredibly heart breaking time. Sincerely and with deepest condolences, The Trzupek family

Jerri Peterson left a message on February 9, 2021:
I know HIS family is going to experience how terrible the loss is when there is a get-together. He had an "amazing" sense of humor, I had some great times with him & Gayle, we laughed many hours away. He had a soft heart. He always had a smile. He was just a great guy. I pray for strength, comfort and peace for each one who grieves his absence.
