Joel Dee Edgington, age 90, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

Joel is survived by his children: Joel Jr., Bob, Mike, John (Shelly) and Deanna (Mike); 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, William Leon (Bobbie) Edgington; brother-in-laws: Bill Adler, Harvey Roller, Herb (Jackie), Don and Frank Rettig; sister-in-law, Gloria Pace; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special friend, Jean Kanost of Hobart, IN.

Joel was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta (nee Rettig) Edgington; parents: Roscoe and Minnie (nee Pinkstaff) Edgington; and brother, Charles.

Joel was a retired teacher from Crown Point Schools and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of V.F.W., American Legion, Hebron Golf League, President of the Palmer Golf Association, and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307.

Additional visitation will take place on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM with Father Frank Torres officiating at St. Helen’s Church, 302 N. Madison St. Hebron, IN 46341. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.
